Project background

Mouye 1 well is the first shale gas exploration well in the Southern part of Huabei Basin, Petro-king wins the contract of the IPM project for whole drilling, completion, hydro-fracturing and well test via open bidding. Petro-king utilizes main stream mature technology of shale gas and take good service senses for the company under scientific management and careful operations, resulting in break-through for the shale gas exploration in the region. During the shale gas production test period for more than half year, Mouye 1 well’s productivity remains stable.

Solutions

Shale gas exploration is an unconventional project which requires huge investment and more advanced technology compared with conventional exploration. Taking successful experience from Sinopec’s Jiaoshiba shale gas exploration and development in Fulin of Chongqing municipality, and PetroChina’s Changning, and Weiyuan shale gas projects as good reference, we introduce Schlumberger’s state-of-art wireline logging items for shale gas exploration, and use leading mud logging techniques from Sinopec, and invite China University of Geosciences to be involved in the in-site shale gas desorption experiment and labatory core analysis. Through those combined advanced technologies, we acquire accurate gas content, petrophysical property, mineral characteristics, rock stress property, etc. of the shale, which provide reliable  parameters for picking up right shale zones for hydro-fracturing, and making great foundation for long and stable shale gas production.

Significance

Reasonable selection for mud logging and wireline logging items, and selection for top ranking service companies with high standard are key for the success of shale gas exploration, and acquisition for G&G and reservoir parameters. Eventually, we have made great contribution to the shale gas break-through in the region of Southern Huabei Basin.
