Background

Shenyang Oil Production Plant of Liaohe Oilfield is in the geological structure of Damintun Sag, Structure area is 800 square kilometers. The crude oil are high pour point, high wax content, low sulfer, low gel and paraffin based. Ability of reservoir  control and production capacity are low for single conventional well. It’s difficult to keep and increase production in this area. Due to low efficiency, An3 well was closed in June 2010. Meanwhile, there are lots of wells facing the same problem.

Solution

To increase production through technological method based on old wells became an effective approach to improve development efficiency in this area. Fish-bone branch well is an ideal option due to its larger drainage area. Performing sidetracking fish-bone well on single conventional well can make full use of old wellbore, turned out to be more efficient in economy.

Achievement

· Completed a branch well with 3 laterals and 6 fish-bones in three months, target hitting rate is 100%.

· Successful measurement rate is 100%.

· Maximize the protection of old casing by using self-developed wearing bushes.
